The Marine House Hotel offers six, en-suite, bedrooms offering comfortable and well furnished accommodation. We are located in Agnew Crescent, Stranraer, close to the shores of Loch Ryan. We are right across the road from the popular Agnew Park - with it's children's play aprk, mini-railway and even a small - but clean - beach. The Marine House Hotel is close to the (Stena) Ferry Dock at Port Rodie and the (P&O) Dock at Cairnryan. Stranraer Station is within a mile.
Ample free long stay parking is available directly across the road from the Marine House Hotel. We offer a full Bed and Breakfast service, and we serve bar meals every lunch time between 1200 - 1345. Evening meals are served in our restaurant nightly. The Marine House Hotel is the ideal base from which to explore the beautiful Rhins of Galloway and surrounding region. Glens, lochs, coastline, forest trails, golfing, pony trekking, mountain biking, sea angling. We are very fortunate to live in the Rhins of Galloway. The shape of the peninsula, with water on three sides, lends to an 'Island Feeling'. Across the road from the Marine House hotel, lays the expanse of sea loch known as Loch Ryan. It is used by anglers, windsurfers and the local Yatch Club alike.
To the south lays Luce Bay, another expanse of water which, with no Ferries to cause heavy washes, is perfect for boating, rib riding, angling, wind surfing etc etc....It's all available right here in Galloway!
Well situated for golfing. Golfers are not just accommodated locally, it is fair to say they are spoilt for choice!
Within 15 minutes drive one can reach: Portpatrick Golf Club (Dunskey & Dinvin courses), Stranraer Golf Club - with its award winning course set on the western shores of Loch Ryan or the Lagganmore Golf Club. There are others, slightly further afield, such as Wigtownshire Country Club, Newton Stewart and even the legendary courses at Turnberry and Troon can be easily reached by the coastal road via Girvan & Ayr.
Stranraer boasts a fair number of restaurants and cafes to suit all tastes and pockets. Choose from Indian, Chinese, Turkish or Scottish cuisine (or just eat in our own restaurant!) to name but a few. The landscape hereabouts is truly stunning. Venture out into 'Scotland In Miniature' - the 300 foot high cliffs down at the Mull of Galloway offer views of the Isle of Man, Ireland, Scotland & England. From the North Rhins one can view Arran, Aisla Craig and the Mull of Kintyre.
Perhaps you have 'Green Fingers'?
Visit the Botanic Garden at Logan, with its award-winning self-guided multi-language tour, plant shop and food bar. Or try a visit to the adjacent Logan House Gardens, the nearby Ardwell Gardens or Dunskey Gardens on the way into Portpatrick.
Outwith the Rhins there are the gardens at Castle Kennedy and the truly amazing Glenwhan Gardens created by Tessa Knott at Dunragit.
Why not spend a day exploring the Galloway Forest Park? Always lots going on there, with its Mountain Bike paths, walks, lochs, wildlife and stunning scenery!
